While I was hoping to see the much-loved bodycon dresses Azzedine was famous for, I have to admit I didn’t have the slightest clue as to what designer Pieter Mulier was going to present for his first Alaïa show, following the passing of Azzedine Alaïa a couple of years ago. As I mentioned in a previous post, new designers can completely change the style of a brand or stay true to the original designer’s aesthetic.
I have to say I was very happy about the return of the sensual, glamourous dresses and couldn’t get enough of them! I also loved the wide leather belts, those stunning gladiator-like over-the-knee boots, the cut-out dresses, all that impeccable tailoring… everything was stunning. But my absolute favourite pieces had to be the white asymmetrical hooded dress, that red leather dress (or bandeau top and skirt?), and that stunning sheer corseted bubble dress. Yeah, I know I suck at describing things, but I’m not a fashion expert or critic, just stating what I like!
