WEEKEND IN MAGOG

A couple of months ago, my friend Geneviève moved to Magog for her new job, and ever since she did, I’ve been looking forward to my first visit in the city.

I got there last Saturday morning, and after taking the time to get settled in and catch up with her (hadn’t seen her in a while…), we headed over to the city of Sherbrooke for lunch at Restaurant Auguste. We were hoping to check out their lunch menu which seemed delicious, but for some reason, even though it was way past noon, we were told the lunch menu wasn’t available on the weekend. After going through their brunch menu options, I opted for their Gravlax de truite, câpres et raisins (trout gravlax with capers and raisins) as my entrée and Brioche dorée, granola, pommes au beurre (golden brioche, granola and apple butter) for my main dish, both of which were really good!

After our late lunch, we did some furniture shopping for Gen, then some grocery shopping for dinner and headed home. We made Ricardo’s mushroom risotto and it was SO SO good! I was under the impression risotto was really complicated to make, but Ricardo is known for his easy recipes, and honestly, this recipe was super easy to make and tasted amazing… I will definitely be making it again at home!

We were both pretty tired so we just crashed on her couch and made it a chick-flick-night-in. The next morning, we went for a walk along the Lac Memphrémagog in the parc de la Pointe-Merry which felt really good, especially when at some point we went a little further south where it was a bit more isolated and close to the water, where we literally couldn’t hear a thing and the whole experience felt so calming…

After our walk, we headed back to Gen’s place, made some mushroom, tofu and spinach pasta with leftovers from the night before. Another delicious meal – never fails when her and I cook together!

Perfect weekend in perfect company in the most calming setting… felt like a mini vacation. Can’t wait to go back!

La dernière photo me fait capoter… c’était la vue du haut d’une tour au bout d’un quai… tellement beau!
